Real Madrid and Barcelona could face off in the 2020
The Allegiant Stadium is to be a new $1.9bn venue built for the Oakland Raiders, who are relocating from their previous home in California, with a potential capacity of 61,000 for football matches.
According to the Washington Post, a deal is being worked on to host the two La Liga sides sometime in the summer, before the NFL season kicks off in early September. Last season’s International Champions Cup saw Benfica finish top of the 12-team table, although Madrid remain the most successful side in the competition with three titles.
While the Allegiant Stadium is the preferred destination, the report adds that other venues are under consideration. The
“We are always exploring compelling matches, but at this time, no ICC matches are finalized,” said Ben Sosenko, spokesman for the tournament organiser, Relevent Sports Group.
The two La Liga giants have previously played against one another across the pond, with both teams regularly flying out to the United States as part of their pre-season training camps.
