31′ Hitz gets into hot water! He came far out of goal to try to clear a ball which fell perfectly to a Benfica player who shot at an empty net, but the effort was deflected behind for a corner.
28′ Speaking of Pulisic, he gets cut down by Grimaldo near the Dortmund penalty area. The Spaniard picks up a yellow card for his troubles.
27′ Also of note: Dortmund’s goals tonight were their first two scored at the ICC that did not involve Pulisic.
24′ Philipp finding the back of the net should not come as too much of a surprise seeing as his nine league goals last season were the most of any current Dortmund player.
M. Götze
Assist

22′ Gotze picks up his second assist of the evening! He lofted a ball into Philipp who looked offside at first glance but turns out it was timed to perfection!
M. Philipp
Goal

22′ DORTMUND HAVE ONLY GONE AND SCORED AGAIN! IT’S PHILIPP!
Jacob Bruun Larsen
Assist

20′ Brilliant move by the German side as Dahoud carried the ball through midfield, laid it off to Schmelzer who played a one-two with Gotze, who passed it infield to Philipp for the finish!

20′ DORTMUND SCORE!!! It’s Philipp who tapped in a lovely ball from Gotze!
A. Živković
Yellow Card

17′ Schmelzer has his heels clipped by Zivkovic just outside the Benfica box. A yellow card has been given and the free kick will be taken from a very dangerous area.
16′ HALF CHANCE FOR PHILIPP! He collected the ball outside the oppsin box, but his effort curled just wide.
15′ Toprak tires another long ball, this time to Pulisic, but it rolls out of play for a Benfica throw.
12′ Benfica press all the way up to the goalkeeper here! It may be the better part of valor for Hintz to launch the ball deep rather than trying to pass to his centrebacks.
11′ The move ends as Toljan takes a loose touch and commits a foul trying to win it back again. That was better from Favre’s side though.
10′ Dortmund finally rack up a little bit of posession. A long ball is launched forward to Toljan on the right and he passes back infield.
7′ The German side are trying to play the ball out from the back, but Benfica are making it quite difficult with a very high press.
5′ After Dortmund committed a foul in a dangerous area, Pizzi lined up a curling effort from the free kick, but it drifts harmlessly behind for a goal kick.
4′ It’s been all Benfica early with the ball having barely passed the halfway line.
2′ After an early push forward, Befica are set to take the first corner kick of the match.
1′ The reeree’s whistle blows, and we’re underway in Pittsburgh!
On an unrelated note, Heinz Field must feel a bit like home for Dortmund with it’s black and yellow colour scheme!
The teams are walking out of the tunnel. Not long to go now!
The star man to watch tonight is Christian Pulisic who is not only playing in his home country, but has also scored more goals than any other ICC player this summer.
This is the first match between these two side since they faced one another in Round of 16 of the 2016/17 Champions League. Dortmund ended up advancing 4-1 on aggragate.
Benfica, on the other hand, are just starting their journey in this pre-season tournament. Tonight’s match will be the Portuguese sides first ICC match since 2015.
Dortmund come into this match sitting in first in the ICC standings having beaten both Manchester City and Liverpool.
