With just under a week to go for the latest season of Seria A to kick-off, the eyes of the footballing world will be on Italy’s top-flight.

For a league which has very much lived in the shadows of the LaLiga and the Premier League over the past few years, a return to its glory days looks to be on the cards as Cristiano Ronaldo gets ready to make his Juventus debut.

After laying his hands on two LaLiga and four Champions League titles during his trophy-laden nine-year stay at Real Madrid, the Portuguese superstar made a £99m move to defending Serie A champions Juventus over the course of the summer.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s arrival at Turin has undoubtedly raised the profile of the Seria A ahead of what promises to be an enticing season.

While champions Juventus have strengthened with the signing of Ronaldo, other clubs such an Inter and AC Milan, AS Roma and Napoli have all made some exciting signings in the summer transfer window.

With all the big teams strengthening to various degrees, Italian football is set to be back in flavour when it kick-offs on August 18.

Ronaldo and Juventus will kick things off with an away fixture at Chievo while Napoli and Roma will open their campaigns against Lazio and Torino respectively on August 19.
