FIFA 19 will soon be hitting shelves in stores across the world, but a demo version of the game will be available even sooner on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
A scaled-down edition of the game, the demo tees up the new release by giving a taste of what’s in store, showcasing some of the teams, venues and fresh innovations.
Demos have become increasingly dense in recent years, but fervent gamers will still have to wait for some of the other features, such as Ultimate Team.
Ahead of the release, Goal takes a look at what is known about the FIFA 19 demo, including when it’s out, which teams are included and more.
When is the FIFA 19 demo released?
In previous years, the demo for the new FIFA game was released roughly two weeks before the full game’s official release date and that will be the case for FIFA 19.
The FIFA 19 demo is expected to be available to play from September 13, meaning that gamers will be able to get a feel for the game a number of weeks ahead of the full launch on September 28.
However, EA Sports is refusing to confirm the release date just yet. A capture event in Berlin across Friday September 7 to Sunday September 9 will give many FIFA fans their first glimpse of the new gameplay, Journey details and player ratings.
It will be hugely surprising if the demo is out much later than a week after that date, considering the release date is September 28 and Early Access will be available a week beforehand.
Players that pre-order FIFA 19 Champions or Ultimate editions on PS4, Xbox One, or PC will get access three days early on September 25.
Origin Access Premier members on PC will be able to play the full game on September 20, while Origin Access Basic members on PC and EA Access members on Xbox One will also be invited to participate in the Play First Trial on September 20.
What teams are in the FIFA 19 demo?
It remains unclear which teams will be available to play with in the FIFA 19 demo.
Last year, the FIFA 18 demo featured 13 playable teams and it is quite possible that EA Sports will allow gamers a similar number – and span – for the FIFA 19 version.
As well as the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, the FIFA 18 demo included Major League Soccer clubs, as well as teams from Argentina, Mexico and Japan.
With teams the Chinese Super League being included in the game for the first time, it’s possible that EA Sports will use the demo to showcase their new assets and appeal to that market.
According to dreamteamfc.com, nine of the clubs which will feature in the demo are:
- Atletico Madrid
- Bayern Munich
- Borussia Dortmund
- Juventus
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
- PSG
- Real Madrid
- Tottenham
What stadiums are in the FIFA 19 demo?
There were four stadiums available to play in for the FIFA 18 demo, drawn from four different continents.
They were: Santiago Bernabeu (Madrid), La Bombonera (Buenos Aires), StubHub Center (Carson, CA) and King Fahd Stadium (Riyadh).
With the Champions League featuring strongly in the new game, it looks like the FIFA 19 demo could include Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano, which will host the 2018-19 final.
The Santiago Bernabeu, Juventus’ Allianz Stadium and Paris Saint-Germain’s Parc des Princes appear in the trailer for the game, but it remains to be seen if any will be included in the demo.
Other possible inclusions are Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park and Tottenham’s new stadium, known as Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
What consoles will the FIFA 19 demo be available on?
The demo will be available to play on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 by downloading.
According to reports, the download sizes will be similar for both consoles, with the PlayStation version said to be 7.3GB in size and the Xbox One download being bigger at 8GB.
The demo will only be playable in offline mode.
What game modes will be available on the FIFA 19 demo?
As with previous demo games, the FIFA 19 demo will include the Kick-Off mode, with games being limited to four-minute halves.
The new Kick-Off mode includes a number of different match types and, while most are not likely to be available, it is probable that the Champions League match function will be playable.
There are reports too that a teaser version of The Journey mode will be available to play as Alex Hunter is joined in the final chapter by his sister Kim and rival Danny Williams.
How much will the FIFA 19 demo cost?
The demo for FIFA 19 is completely free, you’ll just need space on your console for downloading.
