Latest Premier League Winner Odds: Liverpool shorten to 9/4 after Wembley win

Manchester City are still odds on favourites for the Premier League title but Liverpool look set to give Pep Guardiola’s side plenty of competition this season according to the latest prices.

On the opening day of the new campaign City were 4/7 (1.57) to retain their domestic crown. Now though, despite taking 13 points from a possible 15, William Hill make the reigning champions 8/13 (1.62) with some firms as big as 8/11 (1.73).

The reason that price has drifted, despite a strong start has mostly been down to Liverpool’s form.

William Hill’s latest Premier League winner odds have the Reds as a 9/4 (3.25) chance. That’s a joint industry best quote and has shortened up from 4/1 (5.0) pre-season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side justified favouritism in a 2-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday but in truth the margin of victory could have been much wider.

The Merseyside club face plenty more tough tests in the coming weeks though. Two of their next three games see Liverpool face Manchester City as well as a Chelsea side who also boast a 100 per cent winning record so far.

Inspired by Eden Hazard, who has already racked up five goals this season, William Hill make the Blues 9/1 (10.0) to claim another top-flight crown. Maurizio Sarri’s men have been impressive but they’re yet to be seen in the same class as the two market leaders by the odds compilers.

Premier League Winner Odds Update

Some of that could be due to their Europa League commitments although the Blues may choose to prioritise their domestic form and protect key players in the process. That’s not something that could be said of the two sides ahead of them in the betting given their involvement in the Champions League.

Tottenham are 16/1 (17.0) having tasted back-to-back league defeats for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign. There is as big as 33/1 (34.0) available and that seems much more realistic about a team that have made a faltering start to the season.

Manchester United have already lost two games and they’re available at 33/1 (34.0) in the outright betting despite a 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday evening.
