LIVE: Inter vs Tottenham

13′ Down the other end, Spurs win a free-kick following a Vecino foul on Lamela. 25 or so yards out in the centre channel, Eriksen pops it over the wall and sends Handanovic diving low to his right to keep the shot out. Great effort; great save.

11′ Icardi goes close! Perisic flicks on a deep throw-in from the right wing and the forward pokes an effort down towards the bottom corner of the goal; Sanchez intercepts and clears with an excellent overhead kick.

10′ Further pressure from Inter sees Son concede a corner, though this time round, Kane drops back deep to clear the box for his side. It’s the hosts who look the most in the mood so far.

9′ The set-piece from the left wing is swung deep, beating the huddle in the box but finding Nainggolan on the right. He fails to connect with a quality shot though and puts it out for a goal-kick.

8′ Perisic breaks through on the left of the Spurs box and looks to deliver a cut-back pass in for Icardi, one which Aurier slides across to put out for a corner.

5′ Some interesting absences from the Tottenham party in Italy today; Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld are both missing, having been left out for ‘technical reasons’ by their manager. Whether that choice comes back to haunt them, only time will tell…

3′ Icardi slips in behind Dier and latches onto a throughball from Nainggolan out in an unmarked Spurs box; he too however is flagged for offside by the linesman.

2′ The hosts are awarded the first free-kick of the game after Kane is trapped offside by a neat throughball.

1′ We are underway in this Champions League Group B clash between Inter and Tottenham!

The teams have emerged at San Siro and we’re moments away from kick-off.

Tottenham captain Kane has scored nine goals in 10 Champions League appearances so far in his career. The fastest players to 10 Champions League goals are currently Adriano, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, with 11 each, meaning Kane could equalise their record today.

Inter have not drawn at home in the Champions League since a 2-2 result against Dynamo Kiev in October 2009, winning nine and losing four of the last 13 such games.

The pair previously met in the 2010-11 edition of the Champions League at this stage, both progressing from Group A against Werder Bremen and Twente. Their only other encounters? A two-legged round-of-16 tie in the 2012-13 Europa League, where Tottenham overturned an initial 4-1 deficit to win 3-0 in the second game and progress on away goals.

Subs: Danny Rose, Kyle Walker-Peters, Lucas Moura, Harry Winks, Victor Wanyama, Fernando Llorente, Paulo Gazzaniga.

TOTTENHAM (4-3-1-2): Michel Vorm; Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies, Serge Aurier, Jan Vertonghen; Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier; Erik Lamela; Harry Kane, Son Heung-min.

Subs: Tommaso Berni, Daniele Padelli, Andrea Ranocchia, Antonio Candreva, Borja Valero, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Keita Balde Diao.

INTER (4-5-1): Samir Handanovic; Kwadwo Asamoah, Milan Skriniar, Miranda, Stefan de Vrij; Radja Nainggolan, Ivan Perisic, Matteo Politano, Marcelo Brozovic, Matias Vecino; Mauro Icardi.

As for Tottenham, they also make five swaps to the team who lost to Liverpool at Wembley. Son Heung-min returns following his victory with South Korea at the Asian Games; Serge Aurier, Ben Davies, Davinson Sanchez and Erik Lamela are the others into the starting XI.

Team news now and the hosts make five changes to the side downed by Parma at the weekend. Forward Mauro Icardi is promoted from the bench; Matias Vecino, Matteo Politano, Kwadwo Asamoah and Miranda also all feature.

In a group that includes Barcelona and PSV, both Luciano Spalletti and Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to start off with a victory after mixed starts to the domestic campaign. Neither side has ever beaten the other away from home however – so does San Siro spell a clear advantage for Inter today?

The pair meet for the fifth time in competitive European football with two wins each to their name; who, if either, will make it three in Italy?
