It was a fairly lacklustre start to the Champions League on Tuesday as just 21 goals were scored across the eight games, the lowest opening night total since 2015.
Barcelona were the top scorers as they thrashed PSV 4-0, justifying their 6/4 (2.50) favourites tag in bet365’s market of which team will score the most goals, whilst 16/1 (17.0) Galatasaray and 10/1 (11.0) Liverpool shared second with three each.
Wednesday’s version sees another heavy favourite in the form of Manchester City, who are just 5/2 (3.50) to rack up the most goals on the day when they host Lyon.
City’s devastating attack has found the net 11 times in their last three games and will be determined to get their Champions League off to a good start as they look to lift the trophy for the first time.
Real Madrid can be found at 4/1 (5.0) ahead of to visit of Roma, who leaked goals away from the Italian capital last season – including three at Chelsea, four at Barcelona and five at Liverpool.
Available at 7/1 (8.0) are Ajax as they host AEK Athens, with Bayern Munich the same price ahead of their trip to Benfica.
Manchester United head to Switzerland to face Young Boys and are 10/1 (11.0), Shakhtar can be backed at 12/1 (13.0) and Juventus – on Cristiano Ronaldo’s tournament debut for the Italian giants – are 14/1 (15.0).
bet365 also offer the total goals scored across the eight games and, like Tuesday night, they are expecting low-scoring affairs as over 24.5 goals is Evens (2.0) whilst under is 4/5 (1.80).
Under 21.5 goals, which occurred twice in the Champions League last season, is available at 11/5 (3.20), and over 27.5 strikes can be backed at 11/4 (3.75).
