10′ OFF THE POST – Young tries to put Carson under pressure by firing a cross to the near post and he nearly makes it two-nil as his effort hits the post before bouncing clear.
9′ CHANCE – Young decides to go route one and he makes a sensational pass as he picks out Mata. The Spaniard glides into the area unmarked but Carson comes out to deny him and force a corner.
6′ SAVE – Mount splits the United defence with a right-footed pass and he finds Bennett at the far post. The winger tries to find the bottom corner but Romero does well to make a save before diving on the loose ball. It remains 1-0 to United!
5′ Derby’s night was always going to be difficult but they have just made things much much harder for themselves.
3′ Martial played in Lukaku who then looked behind to find Lingard and the England international played in Mata with a simple pass.

3′ GOAALLLL WHAT A START! Man United 1-0 Derby. Mata fires the home side in front as he finishes off a superb team move. At least four United players were involved before Mata curls the ball home from inside the box.
3′ CHANCE – United respond immediately and Martial bursts down the left wing. His cross picks out Lukaku but the Belgian can only head straight down the throat of Carson in the Derby goal.
2′ Derby start the game on the front foot as they charge forward but Wilson’s cross from the left flies past the far post.

Tonight’s TEAM NEWS coming up…
A Derby win would come as a shock tonight, especially with United’s record in this competition. Manchester United have won 14 of their last 15 third round League Cup matches, losing only in 2007-08 against Coventry City at Old Trafford.
These two sides last met in January of this year in the FA Cup, with United running out 2-0 winners. They were also successful when they played Derby in the same competition in 2016, winning 3-1 at Pride Park.
Jose Mourinho’s men are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions but Derby will pose a stern test after they finally found their feet under coach Frank Lampard. The former Chelsea midfielder enjoyed plenty of success against the Red Devils as a player but tonight’s encounter will pose a different challenge. Derby have won three of their last five games ahead of the game at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.
