The midweek action around Europe continues as AC Milan visit Empoli on Thursday night. Gennaro Gattuso’s men have been one of the best teams to watch in terms of entertainment so far, but their performances haven’t yielded many points.
Milan’s 2-1 win over Roma last month is their only victory from four outings so far but 888Sport make them 4/6 (1.67) to come out on top in this one.
Empoli are 19/5 (4.80) to record their first win since the opening day of the campaign. Since then the hosts have lost three times and draw their other Serie A clash. Another stalemate is 29/10 (3.90) with the online bookmaker.
While Milan have had few problems scoring goals, their defence has been poor and that has proved costly.
Both teams to score has landed in each of their four matches, but they’ve conceded seven goals during that spell so it’s no surprise to see the Rossoneri in the bottom half of the table.
Looking further back, BTTS has landed in the last seven head-to-head meetings between these teams although the pair haven’t met since April 2017 due to the hosts’ relegation and subsequent return to Italy’s top-flight.
A repeat of both teams to score here is 8/11 (1.73) with 888Sport but there’s a better goals-based angle for bettors to take advantage of.
Much of the goalmouth action in Milan’s games has come after half time. In four Serie A matches they’ve contested, just four goals have been scored in the first 45 minutes compared to 10 after the break.
Over 1.5 second half goals is available at 19/20 (1.95) with 888Sport and that looks like a solid selection given the early season stats.
This bet has paid out in each of the three previous meetings and with Milan still looking vulnerable as matches wear on, there should be plenty more late drama on Thursday night.
Over 1.5 second half goals at 19/20 (1.95) for a 1pt stake with 888Sport
