Seattle Sounders will be looking to take a significant step towards the MLS Cup play-offs when they host Houston Dynamo on Monday.
Brian Schmetzer’s men can move five points ahead of LA Galaxy with a win, which they are 11/20 (1.55) to get with 888Sport, whilst a draw – priced at 14/5 (3.80) – would put them three points ahead.
A Dynamo victory is quoted at 4/1 (5.0), which looks remarkably short considering they have won just one away MLS game all season and just three of their last 35 – losing 18 of those.
Sounders look set to claim victory here and backing them to win but fail to keep a clean sheet looks a solid bet at 39/20 (2.95).
The hosts have a solid record at CenturyLink Field, taking 26 points from an available 45, but they have kept a clean sheet in just four of their 15 home games as well as only three on the road.
Goals are almost a guarantee in any MLS match and Seattle keeping clean sheets in 23 per cent of their games actually puts them a shade above the league average of 21 per cent.
For context, the average last season in Serie A was 29 per cent, whilst in La Liga and the Premier League it was 30 per cent.
As well, the Sounders have won to nil in only five of their 14 victories this season so whilst they do tend to concede in almost every game they play, they have conceded more than once in just six of their 30 games.
Meanwhile, despite their unenviable away record, Houston have scored in nine of their 14 games away from BBVA Compass Stadium and should be able to do so once again here.
The 39/20 (2.95) quote, then, on Seattle to win and both teams to score looks excellent value ahead of this critical overnight clash on Monday.
