LIVE: Liverpool vs Cardiff City

7′ Salah fires a corner towards the near post but Reid is back on defensive duty for Cardiff and he manages to get the ball away.

5′ Warnock, in his own words, said winning against Liverpool would be ‘virtually impossible’ and his side are struggling to get hold of the ball in the early exchanges.

3′ The Reds are controlling the possession at the start of the game as they look to establish a foothold in the match.

1′ We are underway at Anfield, where Cardiff get the game started.

The two teams are heading onto the field ahead of the start of the action.

Cardiff have not won a league match against Liverpool since a 4-0 victory at Anfield in December 1959.

Neil Warnock makes just one change to the Cardiff side that defeated Fulham last weekend, which is enforced due to Harry Arter’s absence through injury. Hoilett steps into the side in his absence to make his first appearance since the defeat to Tottenham at the start of October.

Liverpool make three changes to the side that hit four past Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League earlier this week, drafting Moreno, Lovren and Lallana into the line-up. As a result, Gomez, Robertson and Shaqiri all drop to the bench.

Cardiff subs: Alex Smithies, Gary Madine, Loic Damour, Matthew Connolly, Kenneth Zohore, Greg Cunningham, Kadeem Harris.

Cardiff XI (4-4-1-1): Neil Etheridge; Bruno Ecuele Manga, Sean Morrison, Sol Bamba, Joel Bennett; Junior Holiett, Victor Camarasa, Aron Gunnarsson, Josh Murphy; Bobby Reid; Callum Paterson.

Liverpool subs: Simon Mignolet, Xherdan Shaqiri, Daniel Sturridge, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Andrew Robertson, James Milner.

Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk, Alberto Moreno; Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Adam Lallana; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have barely put a foot wrong this season and come move top of the league, albeit perhaps only temporarily, with a victory against the Bluebirds. The visitors know they will be for a tough task but confidence will have increased following victory over Fulham last weekend – their first win of the campaign.
