Sirens are blaring in the distance, a multitude of fires have been started, and half the population of Merseyside is topless in the streets. Liverpool have beaten Manchester City at Anfield, and it has all gone off.
The Reds ran riot in an exemplary performance that extended their lead at the top of the division to eight points, and though the title is nowhere near won just yet, the win was one that really shifted the momentum even further in the direction of

What a hit! A stunning strike from Fabinho, firing the ball in from 25 yards#LIVMCI

Before it gets buried in all the drama and recrimination, let it be known that Peter Drury described the opening goal as “A FULMINATING FLYER FROM FABINHO”
— Adam Hurrey (@FootballCliches) November 10, 2019
Made up with Fabinho. What a half, what a goal, what a player. Putting fires out everywhere and driving the team forward. Love how he puts his hands behind his back to avoid a yellow like a kid being told off by the teacher in class. Colossal.

Don’t care what anyone says, no one, not Ederson or any other keeper in the world saves that Fabinho goal.

VAR was introduced to eradicate these sort of incidents, it’s a clear handball, his arm is away from his body, it’s not been hit at him from close range, and he stops the ball from going through to an unmarked City player behind him. pic.twitter.com/sfazJdXwHP

If the ball doesn’t take a massive deflection off Bernardo’s arm, it doesn’t cannon into Trents. If you call his handball, then there’s no doubt that Silva’s is too. Shouldn’t even be a discussion.

What a pass Trent, what a ball Robbo, what a goal Salah!

Let’s take a moment and appreciate the fact that after all, Pep was right- Mané did dive today, and a goal has been given. #LIVMCI

The win was not confirmed before Bernardo Silva threatened to make a game of it, however, sweeping in at the back post to ensure Liverpool will wait for a home clean sheet this season.

Can’t Reds win without giving us a heart attack please….
— Elea (@Elealung) November 10, 2019
It was a deserved win for Liverpool in the end, and one that moves them eight points clear at the top of the league.
There are those, however, who expressed their doubts at the legitimacy of the win, with an incredibly original video assistant referee-themed jibe.
City will be remembered historically as the last side to win a league the right way, without VAR 🤷🏻♂️
