Flamengo boss Jorge Jesus has taken a sly dig at Liverpool’s Champions League final victory over Tottenham last June, as he prepares for a potential clash with the Reds in the Club World Cup this December.
The veteran Portuguese boss, who has been a manager for close to 30 years, added to his substantial trophy haul this past weekend when his side dramatically fought back from a goal down to beat River Plate 2-1 in a dramatic Copa Libertadores final.

The Brazilian side found themselves a goal behind until the 89th minute when Gabriel Barbosa’s quickfire brace sealed a historic victory for Flamengo – despite the forward being later sent off for dissent.
Jesus has had run-ins in the past with Liverpool during his time at Benfica, and after this latest success, wasted no time in stirring the pot ahead of a potential clash in the Club World Cup.

Both sides have automatically qualified for the semi-final stage of the Club World Cup, though neither side currently know who their opponents will be.
