Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has revealed he wants the club to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé.
Despite being just 20 years old, Mbappé is widely viewed as one of the finest players on the planet. Given his lofty reputation, Real are understood to be hellbent on bringing Mbappé to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Hazard insisted that the Frenchman is not far off being able to call himself the undisputed best player in the world, and he would be prepared to do whatever it takes to sign him.
“In a few years, he will certainly be the best player in the world,” Hazard claimed. “This title, there are a lot of players who fight for it, but if he continues like this, Kylian will be one of the greatest footballers in the history of the world.
“A footballer constantly dreams of playing alongside the best. If tomorrow I could bring Kylian to Real Madrid, I would try. But not only is it not just me who can decide this, on top of that I don’t even think I would be asked for my opinion.”
Unfortunately for both Real and Hazard, PSG remain determined to tie Mbappé down to a new contract.
L’Equipe state that negotiations over a new deal are continuing well. PSG director Leonardo has made no secret of his desire to see Mbappé as the cornerstone of the club for the next decade, and they hope that their commitment to him will encourage him to pen a new deal.
However, there are said to be minor concerns that talks could collapse. Mbappé is yet to be fully convinced by PSG, and he is hesitant to agree to a lucrative, multi-year contract, as it would make it nearly impossible for him to move clubs further down the line.
The idea of a switch to Real has intrigued him and given he will be out of contract in 2022, he wants to keep his options open for now.
