Former Leicester midfielder Vicente Iborra has revealed that he left the Premier League club to ‘feel important’ again.
The Spanish midfielder departed the East Midlands for Villareal in January, only 18 months after arriving at the King Power Stadium.
Iborra was not favoured under Claude Puel and started just three games in the first half of last season. For this reason, the former Sevilla skipper made the £9m switch back to Spain.

After moving to Villareal, Iborra has started 33 from 35 league games and is happy to be playing regular football again, per Marca.
He said:
“I want my work and involvement to serve to achieve the common goal.”
With a number of starts under his belt, he has finally been given the opportunity to gain form and momentum. He bagged three goals in his first season with Villareal, but is yet to do so this term. However, he does have an assist to his name, and plenty of the season is left to play.

However, LeicestershireLive reported that not only did Iborra feel underused in the East Midlands, but his family also struggled to settle down in the area.
Despite his unhappiness at Leicester, he was greatly appreciated by the fans, and acknowledged their support in a heartwarming letter confirming his departure.
It read: “It’s time to say goodbye. It’s not easy for my family and me, but we feel that it’s time to come back home.

“Along this season and a half, I’ve felt privileged for wearing this jersey and playing beside these great supporters. You made me feel one of yours, thanks from my heart for your unconditional support.
“I don’t want to finish this letter without remembering the boss. We will never forget you. Thank you for everything you did for this club.
“You will always be with me, Foxes.”
The 31-year-old is expected to start for Villareal against Atlético Madrid as his side look to break their five-game winless run.
