Gabriel Jesus Reveals He Wanted to ‘Shoot Himself in the Head’ During Manchester City Goal Drought

​Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he felt like he wanted to ‘shoot himself in the head’ when he failed to score in eight consecutive games for Manchester City earlier in the season.

Jesus has been in far better form recently, with a hat trick against Dinamo Zagreb in his side’s 4-1 Champions League win on Wednesday, meaning he has now registered five goals in his last three games.

Speaking after the victory, the striker revealed just how incredibly frustrated he became during his goal drought.

“Honestly, last month I was no good and I wasn’t happy,” Jesus said, as quoted by the ​Telegraph. 

“I played nine or 10 games [actually eight] and I didn’t score and I missed chances so I’m not happy with that. 

“I cannot talk about other players, I can only talk about me, but when I’m not happy with myself I want to shoot myself in the head because it’s difficult for me.”

With Sergio Aguero out injured for the past two-and-a-half weeks, the Brazilian has been afforded a rare extended run in the team. Though Jesus admitted that there was a rivalry between the two strikers, the 22-year-old insisted that the pair have a supportive relationship.

“I’m in a single competition with Sergio – a friendly competition. I hope that when he plays he scores. I always want him to help the team and his team-mates,” the former Palmeiras player stated.

“When I play he does the same, which is amazing. I have to learn from him because he’s scored a lot for the club and throughout his career but I’m happy to reach 101 goals in my career.”

Next up for City is a trip to the Emirates Stadium to face ​Arsenal and after falling 14 points behind league leaders ​Liverpool last weekend, it is a must win game for Pep Guardiola’s side.
