Everton have confirmed the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager on a deal running until 2024, replacing the sacked Marco Silva.

The Toffees claimed on Monday night that no contract offer had been made to any candidate, before it was reported on Tuesday that he was poised to take over on Merseyside.
Now, the deal is done and confirmed – with Ancelotti saying in a statement on the club’s official website: “This is a great club with a rich history and a very passionate fan base. There is a clear vision from the Owner and the Board to deliver success and trophies. That is something that appeals to me as a manager and I am thrilled at the prospect of being able to work with everybody at the Club to help make that vision a reality.
“I have seen from the performances in the last two weeks that the players are capable of so much. The work Duncan has done is a great credit to him. Strong organisation, strong discipline and the right motivation are some of the key ingredients in football and I’m pleased that he will be part of my backroom team moving forward.”

This was a clear and exciting decision for the Board to make.
It’s been a whirlwind few years for Ancelotti. He spent just over a season at Bayern Munich – who are again managerless – before being given the boot, while his stint at Napoli will go down as a disappointment, failing to knock Juventus off their Serie A perch.
He joins an Everton side who have been disappointing in general but improved in recent weeks under the tutelage of interim boss Duncan Ferguson, who will remain on the coaching staff, beating Chelsea at Goodison Park before drawing with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
