Paul Pogba Included in Manchester United Squad for Watford After 3 Months Out

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could make his return from injury this Sunday, after being included in the matchday squad for the trip to Watford.

The Frenchman hasn’t featured since late September, having sustained an ankle injury during a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. He was expected to make an appearance on Wednesday as the Red Devils downed Colchester United 3-0 in the Carabao Cup, but his comeback was delayed due to illness.

Pogba has played in only six matches for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season, with the playmaker missing three games in the early stages of the campaign thanks to his ankle problems, before aggravating the injury against the Gunners.

His spell on the sidelines will likely come to an end at Vicarage Road on the weekend, with photographers from the Manchester Evening News spotting him boarding a plane alongside his United teammates.

Fellow midfielder Nemanja Matic has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window after falling out of favour in the north-west. Nevertheless, the Serb has also been included in the squad for the trip to Watford.

Teenagers Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood were likewise amongst the players seen boarding the flight from Manchester Airport.

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Hornets, Solskjaer said: “[Pogba’s] training, and that’s a step forward for us. Of course, [I understand the attention], because he’s a fantastic player, a charismatic personality, and for us we’re happy that he’s here.

“[The injury] was something that really needed sorting, but I don’t think I should give you all the medical information. But, he’s now feeling good and getting better – it’s worked.”

Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have both been left out of the travelling party, with the pair edging closer to the Old Trafford exit door as they enter the final six months of their contracts.
