Manchester City produced a sublime display as they ran out 4-1 winners over Burnley on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s men were back to their best, with Gabriel Jesus grabbing a brace, while Rodri and Riyad Mahrez also got on the scoresheet.
However, before a ball had even been kicked, there was already a talking point.

Nonetheless, the football got underway and within six minutes, Gabriel Jesus had the ball in the back of the net. Oh, and what a deft finish it was, flicking home an Angeliño shot. Unfortunately for him, it was ruled out for offside…

However, he wasn’t to be denied a second time. With 24 minutes on the clock, Jesus picked up the ball on the corner of the 18 yard box before cutting in and curling home a simply delightful finish into the top corner.
A stunning goal…
The away side continued to assert their dominance on the match and although they squandered a number of opportunities, it was Jesus who doubled their lead five minutes into the second half.

The first two goals may have been quite something, but City’s third was an absolute rocket.
With 68 minutes gone, the Spaniard fired home a stunning strike from the edge of the area straight into the roof of the net. Pope got his hand to it, but was almost carried back into the goal with the ball such was the ferocity of the strike.

The game appeared to be fizzling out until…

Riyad Mahrez struck from the edge of the area with three minutes remaining. A cool finish…
It was a perfect evening for Guardiola and his men. Well, a near perfect evening as Robbie Brady struck just two minutes later to ensure Ederson would leave Turf Moor without a clean sheet.
Nonetheless, it was a minor, minor blemish on an otherwise highly impressive display.
The gap to leaders Liverpool was back down to eight points and it was certainly a morale booster…
