The 100 most expensive football transfers of all time

Neymar completed his move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain for a staggering fee of €222 million  in the summer of 2017 and the big deals haven’t stopped since, with Kylian Mbappe joining him in Paris  for €145m plus €35m in bonuses.

As a result of his move to the French capital, the Brazilian is now the most expensive player of all time, having smashed the previous record held by Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who arrived at Old Trafford last summer from Juventus for €105m. Mbappe, meanwhile, moves to second on the list.

Philippe Coutinho’s move from Liverpool to Barcelona in January puts him third on the list, while Barca’s capture of Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund for €105m plus add-ons sees him ahead of Pogba in the top five.

Cristiano Ronaldo occupies positions seven and eight on the list, with his move to Juventus in the summer of 2018 eclipsing the cost of his transfer to Real Madrid from Manchester United nine years earlier.

Most expensive British player

Gareth Bale Perez Real Madrid

As illustrated above, while Neymar and Pogba’s recent moves saw Gareth Bale slip to third in the all-time standings, the Wales international remains the most expensive British player of all time, thanks to his €100.8m move to Real Madrid in 2013.

The costliest English player in history, incidentally, is Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, who joined from Liverpool in 2015 for €69.1m.

Most expensive teenager

Kylian Mbappe France 2017

After joining PSG, Mbappe not only became the second-most expensive player of all time, he also became the most expensive teenager ever.

The Monaco wonderkid joined PSG on a loan-to-buy deal that will be worth €180m after bonuses – not bad for a player who only turned 19 last December!

Most expensive defender

Virgil van Dijk Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk became the most expensive defender of all time when Liverpool forked out a fee worth £84.5m to Southampton for the Netherlands international’s services in 2018.

His move from the Saints to Anfield completely blew the previous record – David Luiz’s  €62.5m move to PSG from Chelsea – out of the water.

Most expensive goalkeeper

Gianluigi Buffon Juventus

City also nearly made history with Ederson, who joined from Benfica for a whopping €40m, but Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon remains the most expensive goalkeeper ever – 16 years after he joined from Parma for €52m, which is a colossal fee when inflation is taken into account.

The Italy icon looks set to hold on to that particular title for a while yet but the insane thing is that it now seems only like a matter of time before further transfer records fall.

Biggest transfer outside of Europe

Oscar Shanghai SIPG

Indeed, the most a non-European club has ever paid for a player is €60.3m, which Shanghai SIPG handed over to Chelsea for Brazil midfielder Oscar in 2016.

However, with the way the market is going, who knows which record will be shattered next?!

Maccabi Tel Aviv sign Nigeria forward Ofoedu from Eskisehirspor

Maccabi Tel Aviv keep solidifying their squad for the new Israeli Premier League term following the addition of Chikeluba Ofoedu from Eskisehirspor on a free transfer.

The player signed a two-year contract at Netanya Stadium following an impressive two-year stint in the Turkish outfit.

He notched 19 goals in 58 appearances across competitions for the Red Lightnings.

Ben Mansord, club CEO, expressed his delight in securing the service of Chikeluba Ofoedu whom he sees as a prospect for the club and fans.

“I am delighted to welcome ‘Chico’ to Maccabi as we continue to finalize the squad for this season,” Mansord told club website.

“Chico had many options across Europe and it is a superb achievement from everyone at the Club, from Mitch to Vladamir, that we got this one closed out.

“We truly believe that Ofoedu will excite the fans as he is the type of player that has you on the edge of your seat. Chico is a player that is capable of scoring and providing opportunities. Welcome to Maccabi.”

The Nigerian forward will be looking forward to proving his worth when he gets to feature for Vladimir Ivic’s side.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv continue their Uefa Europa League qualification game when they host Ferencvaros on July 19, 2018.

Premier League Betting Tips: Boosted odds on Harry Kane to win Golden Boot with winnings paid in cash

The World Cup may be over but the new Premier League season is just around the corner.

After winning the Golden Boot in Russia, Harry Kane will be determined to keep the goals flowing for Tottenham and claim his hat-trick of domestic Golden Boots.

For those who think Kane will net the most league goals for the third season in four, dabblebet are offering him to do exactly that at a huge 5/1 (6.0) for new customers. T&Cs apply.

Kane Golden Boot Offer dabblebet in article

The maximum bet on this selection is £5 and the best part is that all winnings are paid in cash, not free bets. There are no rollover or wagering requirements, so anything you win on this new customer offer is yours to keep.

To take part, simply follow this link or any of the relevant ones on this page and follow the instructions on the landing page.

Although he was unable to win his third Golden Boot in a row last term, Kane still scored 30 goals last season and a repeat this time around will surely be enough to end the season as top scorer.

Harry Kane Tottenham

That total would have seen him win the award in 20 of the 26 Premier League seasons and it was only the brilliance of Mohamed Salah that denied Kane.

However, with 108 top flight goals to his name in just 150 appearances, the England captain looks set to continue where he left off in the World Cup when Spurs kick off their season at Newcastle United.

With all winnings paid in cash, this new customer offer of Kane to be the Premier League’s top scorer at 5/1 (6.0) is expected to prove extremely popular.

Liverpool agree £66m fee to sign Alisson from Roma

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Alisson after agreeing a £66 million ($86m) fee with Roma for the Brazilian goalkeeper, Goal can confirm.

The Reds have been in intensive talks with the Serie A club this week, and now have permission to speak to the player about a move to Anfield.

The deal would make the 25-year-old the most expensive goalkeeper in history, and comes as Jurgen Klopp seeks to strengthen a position that was a problem long before Loris Karius’ much-publicised errors in the Champions League final in May.

Alisson, it is understood, is open to the idea of a move to Merseyside, but Liverpool could face competition from Chelsea, who look set to lose their own goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, to Real Madrid.

Liverpool, though, are growing confident they can win the race, which would mean they have broken the world transfer record for both goalkeepers and defenders in the last seven months.

The Reds have already added Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri to their squad in 2018, and the addition of Alisson, identified by the club’s recruitment team as their top goalkeeping target last season, would be seen as a huge boost ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Liverpool fly to the USA for a three-game tour on Saturday, though Alisson would not be expected to return to training until after that in any case.

Klopp had pinpointed Alisson as his preferred goalkeeping target, with the Reds boss aware that none of Karius, Simon Mignolet or Danny Ward have nailed down the No.1 shirt at Anfield.

Karius’s mistakes in the Champions League final against Madrid in Kiev, and doubts about the lasting effect they will have on his confidence, reintensified Liverpool’s efforts to recruit Alisson.

Ward is said to be impressing Klopp in training, but now appears unlikely to get a lasting chance to stake a claim to be first choice as the deal for Alisson edges closer.

Roma had been keen to avoid a repeat of last summer when they sold Mohamed Salah to Liverpool at what now looks a ridiculously low fee and made it clear that they are not prepared for the same to happen with Alisson.

However, Liverpool’s offer has now met Roma’s valuation, leaving the Serie A club to step up their search for a replacement.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Alphonse Areola is thought to be on their radar, while highly-rated AC Milan No.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma is another to have been mentioned.
