Transfer news & rumours LIVE: Barcelona to rival Real for Hazard

Barcelona to rival Real for Hazard

Barcelona are ready to join Clasico rivals Real Madrid in pursuit of Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard, reports Don Balon .

The Belgium international has long been linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu and has hinted that he will be on the move this summer.

It could be that he ends up making his way to Camp Nou, however, with Barca – who have already been linked with Chelsea star Willian – considering a big-money move.

Liverpool open Alisson talks

Liverpool have opened talks with Roma over a £62 million ($82m) deal for goalkeeper Alisson Becker, Goal can confirm.

The Reds are desperate to land the Brazil international and are prepared to pay a world-record fee for a goalkeeper in order to do so.

Boca Juniors make offer for Barca’s Mina

Boca Juniors have made a €5m (£4.5m/$5.8m) loan offer for Barcelona and Colombia defender Yerry Mina, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The centre-back has been in demand since impressing at the World Cup, with Everton and West Ham also reportedly interested.

Mina arrived at Camp Nou last season, but the Spanish champions may be willing to let him leave if an acceptable bid comes in.

Lampard adds Liverpool and Chelsea loanees

Frank Lampard has signed two players on loan from Liverpool and Chelsea to help his first season in charge of Derby County.

The former Blues midfielder has brought in Chelsea’s Mason Mount on a year-long deal, while also securing a temporary switch for Liverpool forward Harry Wilson.

Huddersfield want Monaco striker Diakhaby

Huddersfield Town are looking at bringing Monaco striker to the Premier League, Sky Sports reports.

The 22-year-old is also capable of playing on the wing and is seen as a goal threat by Terriers boss David Wagner.

Diakhaby did not have many first-team opportunities for Monaco last season, playing just 16 times in Ligue 1, and may be willing to leave this summer.

Man Utd never an option for Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother has echoed comments from her son regarding summer offers, with Manchester United having made no attempt to bring him back for a second spell.

The Portuguese has completed a stunning €100 million (£88m/$117m) switch to Juventus after deciding to bring a nine-year stint at Real Madrid to a close.

It was expected that United would be in the mix once the exit door was opened at the Santiago Bernabeu, but it would seem that they tabled no bid.

Blind completes £14m Ajax return

Ajax have completed the £14 million ($19m) signing of Daley Blind from Manchester United, the Premier League club have confirmed.

The Netherlands international moved to Old Trafford from the Dutch side in 2014 and went on to make 141 appearances for the Red Devils, winning the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

He has now returned to his homeland and will be hoping to add to the four Eredivisie titles he won during his initial stay at the club.

Neymar and Mbappe to stay at PSG

Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are both set to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, according to the sporting director of the club’s training centre, Luis Fernandez.

Both players have been heavily linked with Real Madrid, with the Spanish club keen to sign a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has joined Juventus.

However, Mbappe, who won the World Cup with France and shone in Russia this summer, and Neymar are ready to shun their advances, Fernandez says.

“Neymar has decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain,” he said, adding later that “he will also stay” when asked about Mbappe.

Pickford urged to ignore Bayern

Jordan Pickford has been told to ignore reported interest from German giants Bayern Munich and stay at Everton.

The England goalkeeper enjoyed an excellent World Cup, helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals, and making a number of key stops, including saving a penalty in his side’s first shootout victory at the tournament.

Pickford has subsequently been linked with a number of elite clubs, but David Moyes, formerly Toffees manager, told The Sun: “I think Everton is the right club for Jordan.”

City won’t meet Madrid’s Kovacic price

Manchester City are not willing to meet Real Madrid’s valuation of midfielder Mateo Kovacic, reports  Sky Sports News.

City are in the market for a central midfielder after their expected move for Napoli’s Jorginho fell through, with the Italy international joining Chelsea instead.

But City will not pay the £80 million (€90m/$106m) that Madrid are reportedly demanding for the 24-year-old.

Courtois to decide future in coming days

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, currently on holiday in Tenerife, is set to announce his future in the coming days, OndaCero reports.

The Belgium number one has long been linked with a return to Spain to be with his family and has only one year left on his Stamford Bridge contract.

The report claims that everything points to Courtois making a summer move to Real Madrid.

Barca prefer Kante to Willian

Barcelona have been linked with bids for Chelsea players N’Golo Kante and Willian, but the former is much higher up their wishlist, according to Sky Sports’ Graham Hunter .

Despite the Blaugrana bringing in young Brazilian midfielder Arthur, Hunter believes that the Liga champions want the World Cup winner to add extra depth to their squad.

Signing any Blues player will be difficult, however, with Maurizio Sarri starting a new era at Stamford Bridge as manager and he will be reluctant to lose any big names as his rebuild begins.

Hart expects to be on Man City’s pre-season tour

Joe Hart expects to be on Man City’s pre-season tour of America, the Daily Mail reports.

Hart, frozen out of City’s squad by Pep Guardiola shortly after the coach’s arrival, has been loaned out to Torino and West Ham as his contract with the Premier League champions continues to roll on.

The 31-year-old is actively looking for a new club but is likely to have to take a pay cut to seal a move.

All the same, the former England number one is convinced that he will be part of the travelling party headed for Chicago.

Welbeck & Ospina’s Arsenal futures in doubt

Arsenal are set to trim their squad after completing their summer transfer business and two high-profile names are set to be sold, the Telegraph reports.

Danny Welbeck and David Ospina are the biggest names set for the chopping block, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette set to be the preferred striker options.

In goal, Bernd Leno looks likely to take the number one spot, with Petr Cech looking likely to be kept on rather than Ospina.

Sarri to plead with Chelsea stars to stay

Maurizio Sarri is set to go on the charm offensive this week in a bid to convince Chelsea’s big stars to stay at the club, The Sun reports.

The likes of Eden Hazard, Willian, Thibaut Courtois and N’Golo Kante have all been linked with big moves elsewhere across the summer.

Sarri, having recently taken over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, will put in calls to the holidaying stars as he solidifies his squad for the upcoming season.

PSG interested in Rose

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Tottenham left-back Danny Rose, according to Le10Sport

The Ligue 1 champions are looking for reinforcements at left-back after the departure of Yuri Berchiche and the sub-par season of Layvin Kurzawa.

PSG have targeted Rose in the past and are now set to reignite their interest in the England international.

Bale holds positive Madrid talks

Gareth Bale appears likely to stay at Real Madrid after holding positive talks with manager Julen Lopetegui on Monday, reports The Telegraph.

Bale has made no secret of his desire for more playing time after failing to consistently crack the XI at Madrid last season.

But new Madrid boss Lopetegui is understood to have expressed his admiration for Bale, and underlined his desire to work with him this season.

Everton launch £50m Richarlison & Doucoure bid

Everton have launched a £50 million ($66m) bid for Watford duo Richarlison and Abdoulaye Doucoure, claim TEAMtalk

New Everton boss Marco Silva coached the pair during his time in charge at Watford, and is hoping to be reunited with the Brazilian and Frenchman.

Watford will likely resist any bids for the pair, especially from Everton, who the Hornets feel illegally approached Silva last season while he was still their manager.

Gomes wants Tottenham move

Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes wants to join Tottenham this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The 24-year-old is set to depart Camp Nou this summer after two disappointing seasons with Barca.

Gomes changed to Paul Martin as his agent last season, due to Martin’s extensive work with clubs in England.

Boga nears £3.5m Sassuolo move

Chelsea and Sassuolo have agreed a £3.5 million fee for midfielder Jeremie Boga, Goal understands.

The 21-year-old has spent the past three seasons on loan with Championship side Birmingham City, Rennes of Ligue 1 and Granada of La Liga.

Though he wants to stay with Chelsea, Boga believes a permanent move away will be best for his future if he can’t lock down a first-team role at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle close in on Rondon

Newcastle are nearing a deal for West Brom striker Solomon Rondon, according to TEAMtalk

The 28-year-old Venezuelan has been expected to leave the Baggies after they were relegated to the Championship for next season.

Newcastle will offer £4 million ($5.3m) for an initial loan for Rondon, with a £15m ($20m) fee added on next summer to make the move permanent.

Derby near Mount loan deal

Derby County are closing in on a one-year loan deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, reports The Telegraph.

The 19-year-old impressed on loan with Vitesse Arnhem of the Eredivisie last season, and had interest from PSV and Ajax.

But Mount looks set to instead spend the upcoming season in the Championship under new Derby manager Frank Lampard.

Marseille to land €20m Caleta-Car

Marseille are nearing the €20 million (£18m/$23m) signing of defender Duje Caleta-Car from Red Bull Salzburg, according to  Kronen Zeitung.

The 21-year-old was a member of Croatia’s World Cup squad and is considered a big part of the nation’s future.

Shkupi 0 Rangers 0: Gerrard’s men advance despite dour draw

Steven Gerrard cleared his first hurdle as Rangers manager as a 0-0 draw at Shkupi on Tuesday sealed progression to the Europa League second qualifying round.

Having taken a 2-0 first-leg lead to Macedonia, the Scottish Premiership side did what was required to secure a meeting with either Croatian club Osijek or Moldovan side Petrocub.

Rangers largely struggled to repeat the dominance of their Ibrox victory, when goals from James Murphy and James Tavernier gave them a handy advantage.

However, they were rarely troubled in the return encounter, overcoming the occasional nervy passage to secure a second successive clean sheet.

Shkupi created the first real moment of panic in the ninth minute when the ball broke kindly for Ron Broja, but his mishit attempt was blocked and hurried clear.

Rangers came under further examination just prior to the 20-minute mark as Allan McGregor was forced to push over Blazhe Ilijoski’s drive before a sharp double save.

But the hosts’ momentum stalled as the half wore on and their hopes of reversing the deficit took another hit with midfielder Basil Nchama limping off just before half-time.

Josh Windass had looked lively in the opening 45 minutes and he continued to threaten after the restart, drawing a tidy diving save from Suat Zendeli.

The goalkeeper had to be at his best again to parry a Tavernier free-kick 25 minutes from time, before substitute Glenn Middleton turned a good chance around the post.

Neither moment would cost Rangers, though, as McGregor made one final save late in normal time to safely move the visitors within three matches of the group stage.

Chelsea pre-season 2018-19: Fixtures, transfers, squad numbers & complete Premier League schedule

Chelsea return to the Asia-Pacific region with a fixture against Perth Glory in Australia to get their preparations for the 2018-19 campaign under way.

The Blues will then face some of Europe’s biggest clubs as part of the International Champions’ Cup in a number of venues around the continent.

With the World Cup having ended just eight days before their first fixture against Perth, it leaves Chelsea with very little time to fully prepare – though it does give the opportunity to get back into the fold in an energising manner.

Goal brings you your complete guide to the Blues’ 2018-19 pre-season and Premier League fixtures, with dates, venues and all you need to know about the preparations.

Chelsea’s pre-season schedule involves some entertaining clashes, including an exciting match against Premier League rivals Arsenal, as well as European giants Inter and Lyon.

While the likes of fellow Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool playing in North America, Chelsea will instead be heading down under and to Europe.

The first game of their pre-season tour sees them play Perth Glory in a 60,000-seater stadium on July 23 at Optus Stadium in an Australia-exclusive friendly.

The west London side will then head to Europe to begin their International Champions Cup campaign against Inter at the Allianz Riviera Stadium in Nice, before facing Arsenal at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin shortly after.

They conclude their pre-season preparation with a home friendly against Lyon, but not before they take on Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.

With no Community Shield or Super Cup games to play this coming season, there is room for one final pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich, which takes place on August 5, a week before the Premier League begins.

Chelsea’s 2018-19 transfer activity

Chelsea recently announced the dismissal of manager Antonio Conte after two years in charge of the club with confirmation that ex-Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is to assume duties as head coach.

Sarri brought midfielder Jorginho along with him to Stamford Bridge for a fee of €57 million (£51m/$66m), which marks Chelsea’s first big signing in the transfer window.

The Blues are expected to dip into the transfer market again before the window closes on August 9, especially with reports that Real Madrid have been interested in the likes of star Belgium internationals Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois off the backs of a successful World Cup.

They are also interested in signing Roma goalkeeper Alisson, and face stiff competition with Liverpool who are ready to splash the cash on the Brazilian.

Liverpool pre-season 2018-19: Fixtures, transfers, squad numbers & complete Premier League schedule

Liverpool will hope to kick on in 2018-19 after finishing fourth in the Premier League and concluding the season as Champions League runners-up.

The bulk of the Reds’ pre-season preparations this summer will take place in the United States as they return to the International Champions Cup, having eschewed the 2017 edition, but they also have a game closer to home, in Ireland.

With the World Cup having finished mid-July it doesn’t give clubs much time – compared to last year – to get things in order ahead of their club campaigns, but there is plenty to look forward to nonetheless.

Goal brings you your complete guide to the Reds’ 2018-19 pre-season and Premier League fixtures, with dates, venues and all you need to know.

Aug 4 Liverpool vs Napoli 6pm / 1pm Aviva Stadium, Dublin
Aug 7 Liverpool vs Torino 7:30pm / 2:30pm Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool’s pre-season schedule involves some interesting encounters, with games against Bundesliga and Serie A opposition, as well as a Premier League double header in store.

There are a number of games scheduled for July against local opposition, with Chester, Tranmere Rovers, Bury and Blackburn Rovers all hosting the Reds in games that should see those stars not at the World Cup – such as Naby Keita and Fabinho – involved.

The first International Champions Cup game sees Jurgen Klopp go head to head with his former club Borussia Dortmund at the 75,000-capacity Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 22. That game takes place at 4pm local time, which is not too late in the evening for Reds fans to follow in the UK.

However, the next game – against Premier League champions Manchester City – will have a slightly later kick-off of 8pm, which is 1am the following morning in the UK. The clash against Pep Guardiola’s City will be played out at the MetLife Stadium, which is the home of New York’s NFL teams the Jets and the Giants.

After their clash against familiar foes City, Liverpool have just two days to prepare for a derby game against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. They’ll travel over 600 miles west to Ann Arbor for that grudge match, which kicks off at 5pm local time (10pm in the UK).

After they wrap up their International Champions Cup commitments in the US, Liverpool return to Europe to finalise their preparations ahead of the new season with a game against Serie A outfit Napoli at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium and then a final home fixture against Torino at Anfield.

Liverpool’s 2018-19 transfer activity

Klopp has signalled his intent on pushing for silverware this upcoming season after securing a move for Leipzig superstar Naby Keita a full year in advance, as well as quick swoops for Monaco midfielder Fabinho as well as Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri early in the transfer window.

Emre Can moved to Juventus after rejecting talks of a contact renewal, and Jon Flanagan left the club on a free transfer to join former Reds captain Steven Gerrard’s side Rangers.

The Merseyside club are expected to still be involved in the window as it has been confirmed that they are seeking to sign a first-choice keeper. They also announced that they had agreed a new deal for star striker Mohamed Salah after a spellbinding debut season where he won the Premier League Golden Boot.

Balotelli returns to Nice training after Marseille talks stall

Wantaway striker Mario Balotelli has returned to training with Nice after talks over a move to Marseille stalled.

Balotelli had come in for criticism from new coach Patrick Vieira, as well as fans, after failing to turn up for pre-season training as his move to the Stade Velodrome apparently edged closer.

However, negotiations have reportedly broken down and, though Balotelli was said to be keen not to return to Nice, he took part in training on Tuesday, going through an individual session.

Balotelli has scored 43 goals in 66 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, rebuilding his reputation after a disappointing few years in England and his home country.

The 27-year-old has been recalled into the Italy setup on the back of his good form, scoring against Saudi Arabia and starting against France in June.

Balotelli signed a one-year deal last season, but Nice insist that if he does leave it will not be for free, despite the expiration of his contract.

“I had him on the phone a few weeks ago and we had arranged for him to start pre-season training,” Vieira had previously told L’Equipe. “Unfortunately, he is not here.

“It’s a shame because he spent two beautiful years here, he built a very good relationship with the club and the supporters. It’s a shame that it ends like this. That he wants to leave is not a problem, it’s part of football today. But ruin two seasons like that, it’s a shame.

“Team members like Jean Michael Seri and Maxime Le Marchand, who knew they were changing clubs, were present.

“It was not easy for them but they worked, respecting the club. They were able to greet everyone, the club and even the fans.

“For Mario, it ends differently.”
